Chantal Pattyn studied art history and archeology at the University of Ghent. She made her first reportages at the age of 19, for the youth magazine of the Belgian Radio 1 and for the TV programme Kilimanjaro. From 1991 on, she was the voice of the alternative music programme Update on Studio Brussel (the Dutch-speaking radio station in Brussels). In 1996, she started working for the ground-breaking programme Frituur Victoria, where she was the editor and presenter of the cultural content. After 10 years at Studio Brussel she presented - together with Ivan De Vadder - the discussion programme De Zevende Dag on Belgian (Flemish) national television. The radio bug, however, had not completely disappeared. In 2000 she moved to Klara, the cultural radio station of the Belgian (Flemish) national broadcasting company VRT and since 2007 she has been their net manager. She is also active as journalist for, among others, Canvas (national tv) and De Standaard Magazine (printed press).
